The United States has apparently interfered with international law by pressing foreign nations to divert a plane carrying Bolivian President Evo Morales on his flight home from Moscow. The U.S. believed that Edward Snowden, the NSA leaker, was on that plane, too. He wasn’t.

For details see here.

Now, we know that the U.S. considers every other nation as a potential enemy, even though the politicians say otherwise. The NSA at least does so, as it puts even most European countries in a 3rd class state category, along with China, Iran. Only a few countries are said not to be under NSA attack, but we really doubt that this is true.

The European countries, on the other hand, appear to be submissive to the United States. How else can you explain that “Spain is now consulting with the U.S.A. whether the plane can fly over Spanish airspace”?

We thought, Spain is a sovereign nation, but it appears that it is not. Why else is Spain asking the U.S. for permission? The U.S. doesn’t ask Spain for permission to let a plane fly over U.S. air space, we don’t think.

France, Italy and Portugal also revoked permission for Morales’ plane to enter their airspace. Even France, which is among the loudest to complain about the NSA actions and says it wants to delay upcoming free-trade negotiations. The plane was just minutes away from entering France when the crew was informed they couldn’t enter their airspace. Talks and actions are different things.

What really concerns us is that the U.S., blinded by the obsession to get Snowden, is making everybody to hate the U.S. And we mean everybody.

The national security, which the officials claim as their concern, goes down the drain. But it is not about national security anymore.

Let the competitive peeing contest begin.

Earlier this week it was announced that a minor league baseball team will install video games in the men’s restroom connected to the urinals, and powered by a steady stream of – you know. It is said that this game can be played “hands-free”, but I would think you score better when you take you “weapon” in your hands (don’t forget to wash them afterwards – the hands I mean).

It is actually not new – games like this have been installed in Europe and Asia, but the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, an AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are the first to introduce it in the U.S. Sponsored by a local hospital as a way to promote prostate health, the games can be played for free.

See here for further information.

This could be just a start – and the future certainly looks bright. There could be local, regional and national competitions.

In the meantime, we have collected a top ten list things overheard related to the pee-to-play video games:

10: O man – I just ran out of ammunition.

9: I can’t hit the game console – it is too high!

8: Damn – Multitasking is so hard!

7: Hey – how come you have two weapons?

6: (from the ladies’ room) When are we getting games like this?

5: No, I’m still playing!

4:When are they are going to announce today’s winner?

3: Can you please hold my place – I need to get another beer.

2: (wife to husband after he returns) What took you so long – and why are you looking so happy?

1: Can you please hold my weapon for a second, please?

An update on this

The parliament in Cyprus has rejected the deal that would impose a levy on every bank account – even after the government proposed to exempt account with less than €20000. There wasn’t even one member of the parliament voting for it.

Now I read a comment in the German online edition of Tagesschau saying how amazing it is how Cyprus is gambling and now expecting Europe to pay without forcing the bank account holders to contribute to the bailout.

But hasn’t it been always that way? All the financial troubles we have seen come from gambling with other people’s money – risky if it is your own, but not if others have to compensate for the losses (taxpayers etc).

That seems to be true for Cyprus’ situation as well. But then, what is so unique here?

That’s what they said, and the deal (the levy, that is) is one-time only.

I can’t see anything unique here, and the way to come up for the losses by the common people while the beneficiaries have saved their gains out of reach by everybody else happens every time. Maybe the proportion of the problem is and the way to deal with it differs in some fashion, but then every situation like this is unique.
